WWE: 10 Reasons John Cena Heel Turn Would Be A Mistake
8. The Stage Should Be Set
More often than not, WWE tries to work in changes to storylines and angles hours or even minutes before an event is set to start. These sudden changes occur on a whim, and usually its to ensure that the smart fans are genuinely surprised by the outcome of a match. Turning Cena heel should be something that is planned out months in advance. Because there have been no indications that a legitimate Cena heel turn has been discussed, unless the backstage crew has gotten tight lipped, theres not much evidence to support the idea that Cenas heel turn will take place at Extreme Rules. This is a good thing. Something as big as Cena turning heel should not be slapped together the day before the show. Its a decision that has to make a slow transition over time. A lot of changes have to take place at once, and if the turn is rushed it wont be nearly as effective, or as believable, as WWE would like it to be. There has to be a final destination, an end point where the turn will eventually take place. The rumor mill can keep spreading as much information as it wants, but without credible confirmation, all signs point to Cena continuing to play the hero for the time being.
