WWE: 10 Reasons John Cena Heel Turn Would Be A Mistake

7. The Turn Needs A Slow Burn

For the finest angles, a slow burn can go a long way towards creating an everlasting moment that fans can look back on and go, €œYou know what? That was a pretty darn good angle.€ In WCW, fans had to wait for over a year to know whether or not Sting was aligned with the NWO. Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho had an amazing rivalry in 2008 that took months to come to fruition. When you have the time, and more importantly the patience, to be able to fully develop a feud and give it an exciting conclusion, you create memories for millions of wrestling fans across the globe. Cena€™s heel turn has the potential to be the next big moment for WWE, and if that€™s the case, then it can€™t just happen on a €œspecial event€ show like Extreme Rules, and especially not on a Monday Night Raw that wasn€™t hyped to the moon. WWE needs to give a turn of this epic nature some time to simmer in the months to come. It could take all summer, or even the remainder of the year, but the long term effects will be rewarding for a company that loves to archive the big WWE moments.
