WWE: 10 Superstar Gimmicks That Are Total Rip Offs

7. Jack Swagger

Angle Swagger

Original Gimmick: Kurt Angle Kurt Angle arrived in the WWE as an Olympic gold medallist, which he liked to mention a lot. He was shown as a very proud countryman who was living the €˜American dream€™; wearing a red, white and blue singlet wrestling outfit. Angle€™s finishing move was the ankle lock; he is also highly considered one of the greatest technical wrestlers the business has ever produced. Jack Swagger was not quite an Olympic gold medallist but did also have an amateur wrestling background, becoming an All-American and collecting a record number thirty pin falls within one season. Swagger€™s nickname once joining the WWE became €˜The All American American€™, his finishing move was identical to the ankle lock, however with a title change of the patriot lock. Swagger has never been considered one of the greatest technical wrestlers the business has ever produced by anyone, ever. Verdict: WWE created a poor man€™s Kurt Angle. Angle was asked about Swagger€™s rip-off gimmick live on radio and responded as follows: €œI think Jack Swagger needs to be Jack Swagger and not Kurt Angle. It€™s not fortunate but that is the direction they want to go with him and we'll see how it works out. I don't think anything like that pans out in the long run.€
