WWE: 10 Superstars Who Should Have Been Head Of Creative

10. Mick Foley

Mick Foley There is a wonderful part in Foley's first autobiography talking about his feud with Sting during his time at WCW. Foley throughout his career was known for his outlandish ideas for stunts and spots during matches and as he was outlining these to Sting, the Stinger pointed out that he didn't have to kill himself in order to have this sort of match- he was there just to do a job. Foley simply replied that just because he was going to lose the match didn't mean he couldn't get over. Foley's career path was made by gaining the crowd's favour in matches that he actually lost. The Hell in a Cell with Undertaker, the screwjob re-enactment with The Rock at Survivor Series '98 as well as the brutal I Quit Match at the Royal Rumble. All matches that Foley lost but saw his stock in the company actually rise as a result. Foley was also a master of smelling where the wind was going and transforming his character from the disturbed early Mankind into the later Mankind that would form part of the Rock and Sock Connection. That persona famously led to some of the most hilarious segments of the Attitude Era. A Foley led creative team would probably refine much of the humor in the WWE, giving more patience with some of the gimmicks in the midcard. I would think that Foley would probably push Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt as big heels, while looking to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan to take some of the load off John Cena the way the Rock did off Stone Cold. Most importantly, I imagine a Foley run creative to have a great amount of respect for the superstars' own input - Foley's own gimmicks were mainly created and evolved by him.
