Kurt Angle is possibly the most natural professional wrestler I have ever seen. He was part of the best match I have ever seen in person, as part of a tag match here in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is an Olympic gold medallist and a genuine hall of famer. But every time Kurt enters the ring it could be his last. Most recently, he performed a moonsault off a cage, that missed (as was the plan) and could barely walk backstage for he majority of the rest of the TNA UK tour. He is falling apart before our eyes but he continues to wrestle. Why? Honestly, I don't know. I don't think he needs the money. He isn't striving for a top spot - he's been there pretty much his entire career. Like all wrestlers, he enjoys the buzz he gets from performing, but I think he just doesn't know what else to do. He wants to join WWE when his TNA contract runs down, but he most likely wouldn't pass their medical, and so couldn't wrestle for them. Would he be happy being a trainer in NXT? That's a question only he can answer. I personally think he would be a superb trainer. He would ensure the trainees had the desire and passion to succeed. But it don't know if we'll reach that point. I honestly worry he will critically injure himself on live TV.
I am a teacher, but also write about all things wrestling. I have been writing/interviewing wrestling personalities for over 7 years for both the Wrestling Observer site, as well as The History Of WWE site.
