WWE: 10 Superstars Who Could Never Let Wrestling Go

2. Terry Funk

Terry Funk Terry Funk is 69 years old. Terry Funk is still wrestling. Those two sentences sum everything up about the industry. Terry was an absolutely tremendous in his younger days. In the 1990's he played a pivotal role in assisting the rise of ECW to national prominence. He is revered in Japan. He is respected amongst his peers worldwide. He is a bona fide legend. But he continues to wrestle. Not to the level he did, obviously (his knees and hips are shot), but he still lives for the buzz. He loves wrestling. He could be sitting at home on his ranch enjoying life. But he chooses to step into the ring to entertain the fans. To an extent, who are we to argue? He has had more retirement matches than I've had hot dinners, but if I could, I'd ask him to give it up for good and not risk life and limb (literally) every time he steps into the squared circle.

I am a teacher, but also write about all things wrestling. I have been writing/interviewing wrestling personalities for over 7 years for both the Wrestling Observer site, as well as The History Of WWE site.
