5. Edge
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dW5nDJVSTQM The Rated-R Superstar has had quite the career. Starting as a goth vampire sidekick, he became one of the most successful tag wrestlers of the last 15 years as a team with his storyline brother Christian. After the breakup of the team, Edge won the Intercontinental title and slowly moved his way up the card until striking gold with an angle against Matt Hardy that hit a little too close to home. A series of matches with John Cena and the Undertaker cemented Edge's place as a main event player until an untimely neck injury put him on the shelf for good. Wrestling around the independents as Sexton Hardcastle (still one of the best wrestling names of all-time), Edge teamed up with equally green wrestlers Christian, Rhyno, and Joe E. Legend around Winnipeg. He received his first big break when WCW contacted him in the mid 1990s and he became a jobber on WCW's various syndicated shows. Losing to Meng and Kevin Sullivan, Edge moved on to the World Wrestling Federation on the advice of Carl De Marco, president of WWF Canada. Living on basically no money at all, typical for an independent wrestler in the 1990s, Edge was forced to rely on the kindness of others for a place to stay. When Bob Holly's scheduled opponent didn't show up, Edge was placed in the jobber role and earned a WWF contract out of it. He brought Christian with him and the rest, as they say, is history.
