WWE: 10 Surprising Revelations From The 1991 Summerslam Payroll Sheet

3. Other Wrestlers' Pay-Days

Intercontinental

- Hawk and Animal each made $25,000 for winning their first WWF Tag Team Championship from Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags, The Nasty Boys, who made $17,500 (plus $200 draws) each. - The Intercontinental Champion going into SummerSlam 1991, Mr. Perfect, made $22,000. The Intercontinental Champion leaving SummerSlam 1991, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, made $17,500. (The Nasty Boys each made more than Hall of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart; dwell on that for a bit.) - The Million Dollar Man made substantially less than a million, but Ted DiBiase still brought in $22,000, almost twice as much as his opponent- and former man-servant- Virgil, who made $12,000. Additional Fun Fact: Mr. Perfect had severely injured his back over the summer, and had actually been under the impression he would be forfeiting the Intercontinental Championship and semi-retiring before SummerSlam. Valiantly, he came to Madison Square Garden to put over Bret Hart, a man who helped put Hennig over when he first came to the WWF. His higher pay is completely justified, seeing as he was competing with a back injury.
