WWE: 10 Talking Points Of The Ultimate Warrior's Career And Legacy

3. His Controversies

Part of Warrior's wrestling legacy is always going to be linked to the controversies he caused. His most infamous incident was when held up the WWF and Vince McMahon for more money in 1991. Feeling as if he deserved the same money as Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 7, Warrior wrote a letter to McMahon demanding a higher royalty rate and to at least match the top earner for all WWF PPV's going forward. This was despite Hogan being Champion and Warrior the supporting mid-card role. McMahon granted Warrior his request, but simply in order to get him to work SummerSlam, he then suspended Warrior immediately. Writing to him, Vince said "You threatened to 'stay at home' thereby not even appearing at Titan's major summer pay-per-view event SummerSlam. I had no choice but to accede to your exorbitant demands. This was a serious mistake on your part." There were other controversies for Warrior. His perceived selfish attitude ruffled many feathers. Even as Warrior went into the Hall of Fame, we still had Ted DiBiase voicing his personal disdain for Warrior. One incident Warrior was involved in later in his career was the infamous squash of Triple H in under 90 seconds at WrestleMania in 1996, popping right back up from a pedigree in the process."I didn't know Paul, I just met him there. "I didn't get any feedback, Vince didn't say anything" Warrior explains, "I caught a lot of heat for it, but it was ok."
