6. He Used To Wrestle Whilst Dressed As An Ice Cream...
Once again, this is not a joke. Less than a decade ago, Cesaro was wrestling for independent promotion Chikara...Whilst dressed as an ice cream. Billed as A Very Mysterious Ice Cream (if you can believe that), Cesaro became a member of the group Los Ice Creams; surely a contender for one of the most bizarre gimmicks ever concocted in professional wrestlings long and storied history. The threesome, rounded out by founding members El Hijo Del Ice Cream and Ice Cream, Jr, were actually very over in Chikara, despite (or perhaps because of) their collective penchant for wearing ice cream-themed luchadore masks complete with plastic cones on their heads. ...Im not sure if he made that particular costume himself or not, but if he did, there is an amusing mental picture to be enjoyed there. ...Just imagine the hulking, 6,5 strongman sitting down in front of his sewing machine and, like some mentally aberrant cosplayer, carefully making a few adjustments to a Mr. Whippy-themed outfit in preparation for his next big match.
I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction.
I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long!
If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it).
I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work.
Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that!
Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?)
Latcho Drom,
