WWE: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Santino Marella

1. He Would Choose Santino Over Boris Alexiev

WWE.comWWE.comIn multiple interviews, he has stated that, if given the chance to do it all over again, he would choose the path of being Santino Marella over continuing to be Boris Alexiev and trying to make a name for himself with that gimmick. Both characters are extensions of Anthony Carelli, but with Santino, he feels that he has gotten opportunities to compete and entertain that he never would have gotten as Boris Alexiev, no matter how good his matches would have been. He says that, in the early stages of his time as Santino, he would occasionally wish he could do something with a more serious tone to it, even something small as incorporating some of Alexiev's offense into his matches, but as time went on, he began enjoying his time as Santino more and more. It's difficult to argue with that line of thinking. Santino Marella will go down as one of the more gifted comedic performers in the history of the business, bar none. He has a sense of comedic timing that you simply can't teach. Whether it's impersonating "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, trying to do Melina's "splits" entrance and injuring his groin, rapping to "Akorn", talking about "Bob-tista" shooting lasers from his arms, or having a tea party with Sheamus and Vladimir Kozlov, and numerous moments in between, the man has had a very successful career, entertaining millions of people in the process.
