WWE: 10 Things That Must Happen In The Build-Up For Extreme Rules

9. Every Match Needs To Be Given A Stipulation

Gimmick PPVs are all well and good, providing they stay true to their gimmicks. In recent years we've seen a decline on this front €“ and Extreme Rules is not the only culprit. The Hell in a Cell, TLC and Elimination Chamber PPVs have all seen their number of gimmick matches dip in comparison to their line-ups of earlier years. Last year there were two single matches without stipulations, as was the case in 2012. Compare that with 2011, when every match had a hardcore theme, and Extreme Rules is starting to look a little less extreme. Of course, not every match has to be a career-threatening bloodbath. Last man standing and submission matches are great examples of stipulations that won't necessarily force star into early retirement. They merely require a degree of endurance, while they also have the quality of being somewhat extreme. In order to live up to the name of the show, the WWE should look theme feuds around stipulations as early as possible in the Extreme Rules build.
