Just days after WrestleMania XXX, we're already looking to the future. The post-Mania Raw gave us plenty to talk about as if the Showcase of the Immortals hadn't already done that and we now find ourselves with much to look forward to at next month's Extreme Rules pay-per-view. But if the company build that show as they did WrestleMania, all of this potential could easily go to waste. Don't get me wrong, WrestleMania was awesome. But that was because of the evening itself. The road that took us there was in fact a little dull. Other than the Yes! Movement's occupation of Raw, and The Undertaker's chokeslam to Brock Lesnar through a table, there wasn't much to shout about. Without the draw of a Daniel Bryan title win or the ending of the Streak to call upon, the WWE must improve their game in the Extreme Rules build if they want to deliver the goods come May 4. This article lists ten things that I believe must happen in the build for Extreme Rules if the show is going to maximise its sizeable potential.
10. Brock Lesnar Must Stay At Home
In three short seconds at WrestleMania XXX, Brock Lesnar established himself as arguably the biggest star in the entire business. For that reason alone I think it would be wise to exclude him from Extreme Rules. A couple of weeks ago, I'd have claimed the exact opposite. In fact, I'd have said he should have featured more regularly than did along the Road to WrestleMania. But in ending the Streak, Lesnar elevated himself to an unparalleled height. That level of stardom means he should be used even more fleetingly, much like the Undertaker has been in recent years. He'll never fade from relevancy, and he's going to remain over as a heel after dashing the hopes of so many in New Orleans. Anything less than the biggest of feuds would be pointless for Brock now. He needs to follow this up with something like Bryan for the title at SummerSlam, or The Rock at WrestleMania 31. If he were to compete more regularly between now and then, particularly at slightly lesser PPVs such as Extreme Rules, he'd run the risk of being booked to lose and that would depreciate both the value of his achievement and legacy of the Deadman himself. For better or worse, Brock Lesnar has become bigger than Extreme Rules.
