WWE: 10 Things That Must Happen At Money In The Bank
9. Rusev Must Make A Valuable Step Up In Class
There are only so many black midcard wrestlers one man can squash, as it happens. Rusev's first few months on the main roster have been more about a political statement than a fledgling wrestling career, but we got a valuable glimpse into the future on the Monday, June 16 edition of Raw. The battle royal to determine who would get a spot in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship all the way through, to be honest. How Bo Dallas survived as late as he did is beyond me - especially without any real input in the match. But when he finally made the leap over the top rope, things got interesting between Roman Reigns and Rusev. For once, the Bulgarian brute (quite strange how the WWE have dropped that nickname and gone pro-Russia) was tested, and there were some nice spots in the short time he and Reigns owned the ring. They don't call him the 'Super Athlete' for nothing; for a monster of a man he is unbelievably agile on his feet. There is something special about Rusev, but the time has now come for him to take a step up in class. No more Xavier Woods, and certainly no more R-Truth. Where would the harm be in having Rusev fight somebody like Mark Henry, or even the Big Show? The reaction he would get if he slammed one of those two giants would be huge - and it would only elevate the hype around him further.
