2. DDP's Accountability Crib
Diamond Dallas Page took up wrestling at the late age of 35. One of the people who believed in him and mentored him was Jake Roberts. When Vince McMahon put DDP out to pasture, he branded him own style of yoga that is reportedly practiced by half the WWE locker room today. As part of his plan to get everyone on DDP Yoga, Page contacted Jake Roberts who at this point had gone "from the penthouse to the outhouse". Jake was humiliated by the conditions in which he was living, but had just enough pride left to crave change. When Page set down some serious ground rules for helping Jake, Jake figured it was worth a shot. Page refers to his home in Atlanta as "The Accountability Crib", and it's where Jake got clean, got flexible, lost weight, and regained his self worth. Roberts committed to attending daily Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. He's become an evangelist for DDP Yoga. He's back on the indy circuit, giving clear and promising interviews. It hasn't been a perfect story, he's fallen down, but Page has been there to help him back up and keep him facing forward. Diamond Dallas Page is a major player in the story of Jake Roberts. Jake was one of the few to believe in Page when he was starting out as a wrestler, and now Jake credits Page's belief in him with saving his life. It's far more raw and far more moving than anything in pro wrestling. Even if it barely seems possible, Jake's story is real.
