Just over eight years after he attended his last Wrestlemania as a fan, Colby Lopez got his name in the papers by executing a flawless heel turn against his stablemates in The Shield in the same arena. So what next? Part of the issue with The Shields demolition job of so many wrestlers on RAW and Smackdown over their seventeen months as unstoppable heels has been that there were very few people left that we hadnt already seen them in action against, usually while in the process of flattening them. Their babyface turn freshened things up for them a little, but only created another problem the faction element of their make-up. Put simply, babyface stables dont work very well. There arent many heel challenges to The Shield possibly the Wyatts, but after that? Aside from the hilarious notion of pitting 3MB against the Hounds Of Justice, youre looking at splitting the teams focus with tag or singles feuds, which would be the end of the stable anyway. Rollins joining Evolution brings new life to his persona. With Triple H in charge, Rollins will no longer be the architect of the group, the glue that holds them together. Itll be interesting to see where his story takes him now. A change of ring gear and music cant be far behind a new take on his character, and hell still be able to work singles or tag matches and feuds as and when the story demands. Meanwhile we get to see whether Ambrose and Reigns will recruit someone new to replace the Judas in their ongoing fight against Evolution. NXTs Sami Zayn has a similar style to Rollins, for example. Dolph Ziggler could do with a new lease of life. Either one would prove very popular with the crowd. Of course, the whole thing could be just another swerve. WWE do love to wrong-foot the IWC, and they have form, with Daniel Bryans double swerve on the Wyatts earlier this year, which theyre certainly not above repeating.
