4. Bad News Barrett Must Turn Face
WWE.comWade Barrett had been marginalized since late 2010 when WWE dropped the ball on the Nexus angle. He has always acquired the in-ring abilities, mic skills and pure talent to become a world champion, but he has always found himself coming up short of winning "the big one." After a four month absence from the ring, he returned to WWE TV in December 2013 under the name of Bad News Barrett, a moniker he used on The JBL & Cole Show from YouTube. For months, Barrett delivered "bad news" to the WWE Universe while standing atop his podium, but never once stepping inside the squared circle. It wasn't until the night after WrestleMania 30 that Barrett finally returned to the ring, defeating Rey Mysterio. From there, he'd decimate everyone on his path to becoming the new Intercontinental champion. At Extreme Rules, he won his fourth Intercontinental title with a win over Big E. Each week that passed, it seemed as if Barrett was getting more and more support from the crowds. Despite targeting them in his promos, the WWE Universe was still determined on cheering the English native. He brought back prestige to the tarnished title with successful title defenses against Big E, Rob Van Dam and Cesaro. Unfortunately, his reign prematurely came to an end on June 30 when he was stripped of the strap due to being sidelined with an injury. While he has spent his entire WWE career as a heel, he has never been more over than he has been as Bad News Barrett. Only time will tell as to whether he can regain that same strong momentum upon his comeback in a few months, but expect the former Nexus leader to return to a massive ovation. It was only a matter of time before he fully transitioned into a fan favorite and there's no better time for it to happen than when he returns later this year.
