WWE: 10 Things That Must Happen Before 2014 Ends

5. Cody Rhodes Must Ditch the Stardust Gimmick

wwe.comwwe.comCody Rhodes and Goldust revitalized tag team wrestling last year when they captured the WWE Tag Team Championships and went on to become one of the company's most entertaining acts. They consistently had the best match on the card and had several successful title defenses against the likes of The Shield, The Real Americans, Rybaxel and others. After an excellent run as champions, the Rhodes brothers dropped the straps to The New Age Outlaws at the Royal Rumble event and failed to regain them. In the months that followed, Cody embarked on a massive losing streak and deemed himself unworthy of being Goldust's tag team partner. Many assumed this was building toward Cody turning on Stardust and triggering a long awaited feud between the two, but apparently not. On the June 16 Raw, Cody was repacked as Stardust, reuniting with Goldust to defeat Rybaxel. The two have shown no signs of dissension in the weeks since. While the Stardust character has gotten over with the masses for the most part since its debut, there's no fathomable way that it will get as far as Cody can as himself. With Goldust reportedly departing the company following SummerSlam, what purpose will Stardust serve without his brother by his side? WWE will have missed a golden (no pun intended) opportunity to have the two engage in a feud that many have waited years to see if they don't have Cody part ways with Goldust. Even if that rivalry doesn't come to fruition, Cody ditching the Stardust persona before the end of the year is a must. He has the potential to go far in WWE on his own, but not with a gimmick that Goldust has already perfected.
