WWE: 10 Things From WWE History We Still Need Closure From
8. One More Match For Goldberg
If Undertaker is WWE's Phenom, then Goldberg has to be considered the same for WCW. The man that went on a much hyped winning streak had a huge impact in Ted Turner's company and that impact is still being felt to this day. Goldberg came along at just the right time for WCW fans. The company was in its prime, consistently beating WWE in the ratings while also putting on a top notch production week in and week out. WCW was firing on all cylinders and there seemed to be nothing that could slow them down. But for many of the WCW faithful, the product was starting to become boring. The nWo were still the hottest act in the company but fans were growing tired of their repetitive routine. The Four Horsemen were being used as nothing more than enhancement talent, while the vast array of Mexican stars did not garner any emotional investment. Fans were in need of something new. Goldberg was that something new and he took WCW by storm. His WWE run however? Not so much. Bill was a big fish in a very big pond and that pond was owned by Triple H. Instead of being hailed as the next big protagonist, Goldberg took a backseat in many ways to the established roster. His time in WWE was less than phenomenal. But that has not stopped fans from talking about him. It's also not stopped them from wanting to see him come back. WWE had a prime opportunity to induct Goldberg into the Hall of Fame when WrestleMania 27 came to WCW's old stomping grounds in Atlanta but it did not happen. And that could perhaps be the only way that many fans can move on and just let it go. Finally giving Goldberg the proper sendoff and publicly acknowledging his career would likely put an end to all the talk of one more match.
