WWE: 10 Things From WWE History We Still Need Closure From
7. The Cruiserweight Championship
The Cruiserweight Championship was a title that saw a lot of action in its day. The belt that first saw life in WCW came to WWE when Vince McMahon bought out his competition and it was regularly featured on TV. Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Chavo Guerrero and The Hurricane are just a few of the names that brought the fast paced excitement fans expected from the cruiserweight Division. And while the smaller talents like Rey could step into the heavyweight division and be successful, it was the cruiserweight title that was a real trophy for others that were not headed in that direction. But the last man to hold the belt was Hornswoggle back in 2007 and since then, it has been removed as an active championship. However for many fans, the silent demise of the Cruiserweight Championship was just unacceptable. The fact is that belt deserved more than what it was given. And in this modern era of more random weight Superstars in the company that are getting over, there may be no time like the present to reintroduce the title once again. Kofi Kingston, The Miz, Sin Cara, Tyson Kidd, Xavier Woods and Seth Rollins are just some of the Superstars that fall under the 225 pound requirement and could compete for the Cruiserweight Championship. While the belt itself would not necessarily have to be a destination, it could very well be a stepping stone in a guy's career. But for any of that to happen, the title must be brought back. It's always been a topic of conversation among WWE fans and likely always will be. In a company with many underutilized talent and more on the way up from NXT, another title could be a great way for fans to connect with the new faces and for more established Superstars to get their shot at success. Title unification is one thing; title deletion is something else altogether. The Cruiserweight Championship deserves a new lease on life.
