WWE: 10 Things You Need To Know About New Divas Champion Paige

1. She Has The Potential To Become An All-Time Great

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ1vSQRyIdA What do you get when you mix looks with talent and a firm platform with which to express that talent? The answer is success. Whilst I am very wary indeed of hyping up her debut too much, I see nothing but potential and opportunity when it comes to Paige. She is the first genuinely good, young, female wrestler to come along in a while with the potential to inspire an audience with her in-ring work, as opposed to sheer looks or reality TV acumen. The key to making or breaking Paige will be time. Specifically, the time she gets to prove herself on a WWE screen. Anyone whom has seen her performances in NXT will know that Paige shines brightest when given time, in the ring, to tell a story. If WWE give her that time- and honestly, with the 3-hour Raws and the WWE network there's no reason not to- I am confident she will prove she is worthy of the immediate push and the hyperbole that comes with it. The biggest challenge for Paige will be adapting her style and her character to be appealing to the casual WWE fans, whilst still laying the groundwork for the long-term change in philosophy, with regards to the Divas' Division. WWE should, on the back of her debut, give AJ and Paige a good amount of time in the inevitable rematch at Extreme Rules and I would also give them 15 minutes to strut their stuff when WWE comes to London in a few weeks too. Paige should be extremely over in front of the South English crowd and it will provide a platform with which to kick this feud into a higher gear. Jim Ross, in his blog, qualified her with a tremendous upside and went onto say that he believed she was one of the new faces that broke through on Raw that would endeavour to continue to improve and adapt where needed to take their careers to the next level. Coming from a wrestling background and having been given this opportunity, I have no doubt that she will hit a home run if pitched a fair ball. The one concern is that WWE continues to waste the talent in their female division, rather than taking the steps we all want them to take in developing it. If, in a few months time, Paige has lost the title, is wrestling random 3 minute matches and is stuck in some atrocious romance angle with Wade Barrett, then we'll know it's time to give up hope on WWE with their Divas. They have a gemstone in Paige, so let her shine. All she has is potential... and all the time in the world in which to make it a reality.
