WWE: 10 Worst Gimmicks Of All Time

5. The Gobbledy Gooker

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JODV1xJNlrU Héctor Guerrero joined the members of his proud wrestling family when he appeared, dressed in a Turkey outfit, at the Survivor Series 1990. In this one off appearance he danced with commentator Mean Gene Okerlund and left fans wondering what the point was. The Gooker hatched from an Egg that had been featured on WWE television for months beforehand, hyped up to suggest it could have been the arrival of an incredible wrestler that would shake the WWE to its very core, which is strange when you consider less than a year later the greatest gimmick in the history of the WWE (arguably) would make his own personal debut. In any case, it's been well documented why the Gooker was despised, crowd reaction to the gimmick was extremely negative, with fans loudly booing as the costumed Guerrero danced in the ring. The commentators that evening attempted to keep up good spirits but the character was immediately scrapped and never mentioned again on air for over 2 decades. Gooker returned at Wrestlemania 17 (in the same Gimmick Royal event as Repo Man) and made an attempt to interact with Mean Gene again. Apparently as it was now 21 years later you could call what they did "retro" and therefore cool. Most of us held our breath for a match between the Gooker and Triple H (seriously, who wouldn't want that!) but have been left disappointed - even now that he hasn't been revealed as a DLC for WWE 2K14 Then again, the simple fact remains, the Gooker is not a wrestler and never fought an actual match, so what he was meant to do and why he was meant to be there still eludes us all. The fact he was eliminated after the Repo Man in the Battle Royal deserves some credit, however, as a man in a Turkey costume (with no arms) surviving longer in a professional wrestling "encounter" than a former Tag Team Champion always needs to be pointed out. Thanksgiving = Turkey?
