7. Shawn Micheals
As a member of The Kliq, Shawn Michaels (along with his buddies) was notorious for abusing drugs and alcohol throughout most of his run with the WWF during the 90s. His behaviour while under the influence of those destructive elements has been well documented in many wrestling books and documentaries. I guess they did have some fun though! Kevin Nash tells one particularly humorous story for Kayfabe Commentaries about those two and Scott Hall smoking hash in London. Quite unlike some of the others on this list though, The Heartbreak Kid didn't draw the line at marijuana back then. In his own words: "I was doing everything I could to kill myself except put a loaded weapon in my hand". This was evident in some of his work at the time, both on the mic and in the ring. At times, he swapped his usual impressive style for more of a vacant canter. Shawn recognises that those dark times are what eventually drove him to change his life, after an emotional encounter with his young son. One of the greatest workers in the history of the business has since cleaned his act up a while ago and is now a born again Christian.
