WWE: 10 Wrestlers Who Have Suffered The Most Since WrestleMania 29
7. Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio was horribly cast as a babyface heading into last year's WrestleMania. He was forced into a terrible position, as WWE had him suddenly profess his love for the United States every week. It didn't feel genuine in the least. The turn itself was also lacking. After years of flaunting his wealth, and being a nefarious heel, he was turned because of an impromptu match with 3MB. But with all that said, he was still the World Heavyweight Champion heading into Mania 29. The match against Jack Swagger even received a fair amount of TV time to promote it. There was some hope that Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez could make a connection with the crowds. It never happened. This year, Del Rio is lost. He's a heel again, but he seems to exist solely for the purpose of being fed to other babyfaces. He was Batista's first target upon his return, and put him over without putting up much of a fight. Now he appears to be set for a showdown with Dolph Ziggler, all because Aaron Paul distracted him. There's not much to be excited about in that. With rumors of Del Rio thinking about leaving the company when his contract expires, this may be why WWE has made his role at this year's show so meaningless.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
