WWE: 10 Wrestlers Who Have Suffered The Most Since WrestleMania 29

8. Mark Henry

One year ago, the Hall of Pain was re-opened for business. With a lack of quality top-level heels, Mark Henry was receiving another push as a monster. To help make him more of a threat, he was booked against Ryback at WrestleMania 29. The buildup was centered around two of the most powerful men in the company trying to one-up each other with impressive shows of strength. At the time, though, Ryback was still being protected by management and seemed destined to go over in the match. That wasn't the case, as he was unable to lift up the World's Strongest Man, and was cleanly pinned in an 8 minute outing. This set up Henry for feuds against Sheamus, and later John Cena at a few pay-per-views over the course of the year. Another injury went down (which always seem to happen to the big man), and he later returned as a babyface, which never seems to work for him. Right now we're watching another example of the futility in a good guy Henry. He has joined up with Big E a few times in an unofficial tag team, but has mainly been used as cannon fodder lately for Brock Lesnar's upcoming match with Undertaker. Despite cutting one of the best promos in wrestling over the past decade (when he teased his retirement) this year, Henry is rewarded with no big match at Mania. Sure, the Ryback match last year wasn't exactly main event material, but it was at least something. As of now, it seems unlikely that he'll even have a spot on the show. Henry has publicly stated he plans to retire when his current contract is up, which makes it a shame that WWE can't find anything for him to do with such little time left in his career.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
