6. Luna Vachon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YdBzLi65jM Another wrestler from a famous wrestling family, Gertrude 'Luna' Vachon entered the family business despite disapproval from her family who thought a woman wrestler's career was too brutal. Luna, however, was determined to forge her own path and from 1985 - 1992 she wrestled for various independent companies, initiating a long term feud with Madusa Miceli along the way. In 1993, she was brought into the WWE to manage Shawn Michaels who was feuding with Tanaka and Sherri Martel (Sherri used to be Michael's valet). Luna and Sherri had beef for a while and as a side plot, Bam Bam Bigelow fell in love with Luna. Her old rival Madusa entered the WWE as Alundra Blayze when the WWE revived its women's section. Madusa consistently came out on top in their matches. Vachon left the WWE and worked the independents, and for a while - the ECW. In a stint in the WCW, she came up against Madusa many times but never seemed to get the pin. Her second WWE stint began in 1997. She supported Golddust in a feud against Vader and incurred the enmity of Sable which both ladies engaged in an Evening Gown Match in Unforgiven in which Luna stripped Sable to her undies. The hatred between the women was not pure kayfabe - Luna was ordered not to hurt Sable in their matches and Sable boasted that she would soon be champion - which hurt Luna as she had never achieved that status. Luna would go on to feud with Ivory and a number of other wrestlers in her WWE career but she was let go, due to her antics back stage in 2000. Vachon had success in the independent scene after splitting with the WWE but her colourful lifestyle was to be her downfall. Luna was married three times and had two sons. She was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and she was a born again Christian. Added onto this, she had featured in both Playboy and Hustler! In December 2009, Vachon's house burned down and destroyed all of her wrestling paraphernalia. Mick Foley tried to help her get a new job, but she rebuffed his advances, stating she was retired. On August 27th 2010, Luna's mother found her dead. She was 48. The autopsy report stated it was due to a combination of oxycodone and benzodiazepine. Investigators had found crushed pills and snorting straws all over the house. An attempt to get her sober by the WWE had tragically failed, and the wrestling world lost one of its greatest female talents.
