10. Jack Swagger's Main Event Run
Putting the charisma-less Jack Swagger with the verbally skilled Zeb Colter was a good creative move. It was however an abysmal creative move to bring back the average talent of Swagger into a hot shot Wrestlemania 29 main event world title match. Swagger had been off of WWE screens since early September 2012, when he suddenly resurfaced on Smackdown in February 2013. A couple of weeks later and Swagger won the Elimination Chamber match to make himself the number 1 contender for the world title at Mania 29. The man who was miles away from being a main event level talent had won the chamber by defeating genuine main event players such as Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton. It defies belief quite how the creative and booking team really thought Swagger was capable of coming back with no build straight into a Mania main event. The error was compounded when creative gave Swagger a gimmick with racist connotations. Sure, it got heat and made logical sense against Del Rio's hero - but Swagger brought nothing to the table, it was Zeb Colter who made the angle. The folly of WWE was fully realized when Swagger got arrested by police for a D.U.I and marijuana possession just weeks before Mania. Swagger did the job for Del Rio at the New Jersey event and was quickly relegated down to the mid card. The original decision to push him as a Wrestlemania main event was a true error.
