WWE: 11 Biggest Mistakes Creative Made In 2013

6. The Payback Pay Per View

wwe payback The most poorly promoted WWE pay per view in recent memory. Creative just didn't seemed bothered to do anything to sell this event. It's a shame because it actually ended up being a decent show, but the WWE were so lethargic in promoting it's a wonder anyone even bought it. Analyzing the terrible promoting of this pay per view, consider this - a week before the event, the WWE had only announced three matches. Those contests were Punk vs Jericho (which was done to death in 2012), Cena vs Ryback and Barrett vs Fandango vs Miz. With a week to go it was hardly the most inspiring line up. The company did end up adding more matches in the days before the event, but the perception of the event as lame was already made. It was a damaging decision not to promote the event more strongly - the ppv was up against game 5 of Miami vs San Antonio in the NBA Finals. It seems bizarre that a major event company would not promote its show stronger knowing the level of competition it was up against. Creative dropped the ball and Payback clocked in with a paltry 108,000 North American buys.
