5. Bob Backlund

Bob Backlund, two time WWF Champion, is still retained under a WWE contract. His work is under an ambassadorial role, a deal where WWE will use him for occasional promotional work. Remember when he appeared as an option for the special referee spot at Hell in a Cell 2013? That's because he is under contract, a go-to-guy for WWE when they have a hole to fill. The reason they choose to have Backlund under this arrangement is admittedly a bit perplexing. He was a big star in his first WWF title run of the late 70's / early 80's, again enjoying fame in his very brief early 90's comeback. However, modern day fans have no real idea who he is. Worst still, his long rambling Hall of Fame 2013 speech was proof that WWE should never consider letting him near a live microphone. Nevertheless, as of April 2014, evidenced by the leaked Raw script, he is still under WWE contract as an 'Ambassador'. No doubt we will be seeing him again very soon.
