WWE: 11 Stars Who Should Never Have Changed Entrance Themes
7. Goldberg
WCW didn't create Goldberg's theme song "Invasion", but they did give it to the perfect guy - it's doubtful that Disco Inferno could have pulled it off as well. The song has been used in other media over the years such as The History Channel using it for background music in war documentaries: it's very dramatic, intimidating piece, and it perfectly fit the crowd's long "Goooooooldberg chants." When he jumped to the WWF after WCW folded, he was initially given the same theme when he first debuted - it was a great moment when the song hit, and fans popped like crazy knowing it was Goldberg who was going to shut up The Rock. Unlike with DDP, WWE made the right call, but then, for some reason, WWE changed it. His new entrance theme sounded similar, but it was clear that it was a knockoff - like getting Transmorphers on DVD for Christmas, when you really wanted Transformers. Crucially, the theme didn't even fit the "Goldberg" chants anymore, and worse, it sounded like it was trying to be epic, but just ended up failing pretty badly. Goldberg was no stranger to new inferior themes, as he was briefly given a Megadeth song "Crush 'Em" before WCW management came to their senses and changed it back, but the WWE was not so wise, and just like nearly everything else during his year long employment there, it was a continuing streak of mistakes.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
