WWE: 12 Employees Turned Whistleblowers

10. Raven

The "independent contractor" employment status has long been a topic of debate among the wrestling business and its fans, with most reasonable people feeling it's an unfair way to categorize the industry's workers so as to avoid health insurance and other benefits many feel they should receive. The problem is that in order for the status quo to change, someone would have to be willing to step up and challenge the WWE juggernaut, and with so few options for work among wrestlers not many people are willing to take that step. What about Raven? In 2008 the former ECW icon, along with two other ex-talents, spearheaded a lawsuit against WWE that sought to challenge the independent contractor classification and for "cheating them out of health care and other benefits". Someone had finally decided to take a stand and go head on against the WWE machine. Unfortunately the case was dismissed for, according to Raven himself, the statute of limitations expiring.
