WWE: 12 Great Wrestlers Totally Screwed By Comedy Gimmicks

4. Brodus Clay

Brodus Clay was introduced to the WWE Universe through the original NXT program. He eventually became Alberto Del Rio's bodyguard for a few weeks before being sent back to developmental. Clay's next run was hyped with video packages that made him look like an absolute monster. Clay was almost made to look like the next Big Van Vader, but WWE changed their minds at the last second. Clay debuted on Raw with Ernest Miller's old theme music and two dancers who served as cheerleaders during his matches. The Funkasaurus was born and the monster was dead. Clay had the usual run of squash matches for a few months before WWE tried to push him against a real Superstar. His limitations were exposed and he was used a comedy character until his recent heel turn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIYmgzlkTxw Clay was a kid's gimmick in every way, shape and form. His tag team with Sweet T had potential, but WWE broke them up for what appeared to be no reason. Clay has not seen any time outside of a few NXT appearances since his heel turn, which does not bode well for the big man. Clay does have potential, but WWE needs to find something for him to do or he will end up on the chopping block.
