WWE: 12 Life Lessons From Ultimate Warrior's 'One Warrior Nation'
10. Ignore The Negativity Of The Media
One shouldnt be surprised that Warrior would advise against radio/television/online news. After all, his former employer turned against him and released a smear campaign in the form of a DVD. It is a very direct example of how ones life can be affected by editorializing and sensationalizing instead of objectivity. Since the news has become so inherently negative and subjective, Warrior sees exposure to such as a waste of ones time and a drain on ones optimism. To achieve the clarity of mind required to tap into your own genius (the goal of the Warrior Nation), the news media is best ignored altogether. And thats all well and good, in theory, since I agree that news outlets can be toxic. But to say that one should ignore the issues of the world because you cant save the world all by yourself anyway, well that seems borderline irresponsible. If the goal is to rely on the genius within yourself, but for the sole purpose of improving YOURSELF, its a selfish existence, in my opinion. According to Warrior, any exposure to the news - even for the purpose of learning, or for turning the negative into a positive - is a useless effort. Counterproductive, in fact. I am curious as to what Diamond Dallas Page would say about this rule, as he is known for being very optimistic, and that is what Warrior is trying to foster here optimism.
