WWE: 12 Life Lessons From Ultimate Warrior's 'One Warrior Nation'

10. Ignore The Negativity Of The Media

One shouldn€™t be surprised that Warrior would advise against radio/television/online news. After all, his former employer turned against him and released a smear campaign in the form of a DVD. It is a very direct example of how one€™s life can be affected by editorializing and sensationalizing instead of objectivity. Since €œthe news€ has become so inherently negative and subjective, Warrior sees exposure to such as a waste of one€™s time and a drain on one€™s optimism. To achieve the clarity of mind required to tap into your own genius (the goal of the Warrior Nation), the news media is best ignored altogether. And that€™s all well and good, in theory, since I agree that news outlets can be toxic. But to say that one should ignore the issues of the world because €œyou can€™t save the world all by yourself anyway€, well that seems borderline irresponsible. If the goal is to €œrely on the genius within yourself€, but for the sole purpose of improving YOURSELF, it€™s a selfish existence, in my opinion. According to Warrior, any exposure to the news - even for the purpose of learning, or for turning the negative into a positive - is a useless effort. Counterproductive, in fact. I am curious as to what Diamond Dallas Page would say about this rule, as he is known for being very optimistic, and that is what Warrior is trying to foster here €“ optimism.
