WWE: 12 Life Lessons From Ultimate Warrior's 'One Warrior Nation'

11. Never Forget That You Are A Human Being

While this rule sounds borderline silly, it lays the foundation for Warrior€™s entire philosophy. Why? Because in Warrior€™s opinion, having control over one€™s actions, opinions, and to a certain extent, one€™s own destiny, is a uniquely human trait. So if you are faltering in terms of following the rules or achieving success, it is always within your control to self-correct and make change. Because you are human, there is no excuse for failing to act with purpose. He€™s working a very Socratic argument here. You are a human. Humans are capable of controlling their lives. Therefore YOU are capable of controlling your life. It€™s an empowering notion that I€™ll admit is a great start, because it puts the onus on the individual to succeed. But as easy as this rule is to reason, it is difficult to execute. How hard is it to take responsibility for your own bad choices, or failure to act? How easy is it to lay blame elsewhere, sometimes with the utter belief that someone else is at fault for what happened to you. This rule requires a certain level of self-awareness and maturity (which doesn€™t mean older age, of course). But if you can remember to embrace your €œhumanity€, the other rules may be easier to follow.
