The Boogeyman debuted on WWE Television near the tail end of 2005, and quickly became one of the most bizarre offerings in WWE history, thanks in part to his tendency to surprise other Superstars by hiding in closets or strange locations backstage. The face-painted creep would also smash an over-sized alarm clock over his own head and sing rhymes about himself, making for a hugely amusing, if not a bit unnerving, addition to WWE Smackdown. And then as if he wasn't causing enough issues, a few months after his debut The Boogeyman upped his creepiness factor by debuting his animal sidekick-of-sorts. . . a pocketful of live worms that he shoved into his own mouth as often as he could. His character would remain worm-centric as the months went on, and in addition to eating them himself he would often shove them in his opponent's face and scatter them across the ring, making for a serious health and safety concern. His affinity for eating and utilizing his worm friends was certainly off-putting, difficult to watch and hard to stomach, but therein lay the appeal. This completely disgusting use of annelids was certainly a low point in the WWE history of animals, but there's no denying its success.
