Bad News Brown's affiliation with the WWE (or WWF as it was back then) was short lived (in two stints,) he made a name for himself as one of the toughest stars of the late 80s - including confronting Andre The Giant when he made a racist comment on a tour bus for New Japan Pro Wrestling and offering him outside for a fight. Notoriously reclusive, Brown famously refused to respect anyone, blazing the trail that Stone Cold Steve Austin would take up to greater success later, but he did introduce a number of small, creepy friends during one of his most famous feuds. Facing off against Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Bad News employed his own animal tactic after Roberts taunted him by sending a rubber snake as a present (Brown was scared of snakes.) When the pair agreed to fight at SummerSlam, Brown vowed to bring 200 pounds of sewer rats to counter-act Roberts' snake, and duly fulfilled his vow (sort of.) When the bout began, a covered cage sat beside the ring, supposedly containing the rats, though they were never actually shown, which robbed some of the impact. Brown was ultimately defeated, but not before he attempted to hurt Roberts' snake - causing Big Bossman, the guest referee, to intervene and save the slithering side-kick: the result of course was that Brown left the WWE, stating that Vince McMahon had failed to deliver on the promise of his becoming the first black champion.
