9. Vice: The British Wrestler
Produced by Vice as part of their Rule Britannia series, The British Wrestler follows professional wrestler Graeme Grado Stevely as he attempts to get himself booked by his local promotion, Insane Championship Wrestling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zowFiAmFAXM Much like WWEs Zack Ryder, Grado used YouTube and social media to get himself noticed. However, he still struggles to win over promoters because of his short size and unconventional physique. It really annoys me he says in his thick Scottish brogue, to see wrestlers who look like a bag of shite. Unfortunately, The British Wrestler suffers from Vices unconventional editing style. The filmmakers also overemphasize the social and political significance of wrestling in the UK particularly evident in ICW head booker Mark Dallass rambling monologues which could have been more carefully managed. Nonetheless, The British Wrestler is a fascinating insight into the lost art of pro wrestling in Britain.
