5. George 'The Animal' Steele
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NLjgzCxjWw Many have played the role of the crazy heel during the history of professional wrestling. Few have ever played it better than William Myers, however, who competed as George 'The Animal' Steele, selling his character by biting turnbuckles with his teeth and eating the stuffing inside, as well as having a green tongue (achieved through the pre-match consumption of specific mints) and a combination of a bald head and extensive back hair. Invited to the WWE after a series of strong matches with Bruno Sammartino, Steele cut promos despite the nature of his character in his early career, though as the company's output became a televised spectacle, he was informed by Vince McMahon that his performances were too eloquent for someone meant to be playing an imbecile. He henceforth became known for having a vocabulary of just a few words, and took part in a memorable feud against Randy Savage in the 1980s when he developed an innocent crush on the the Macho Man's valet/wife, Miss Elizabeth, Steele's career was winding down by the time that the Royal Rumble was invented, however. He would not be a participant in the 1988 match and had retired by the time that 1989's event came around. He seemingly remains on good terms with the company, given that he has returned on a few occasions, most notably wrestling five matches between December 1997 and February 1998 as part of the Oddities stable, though January's Rumble match was not one of them.
