WWE: 15 Notable Performers That Have Never Been In A Royal Rumble Match

12. Paul Burchill

Another man from the noughties without a Rumble appearance to his name is Paul Burchill, who debuted in an alliance with his fellow Brit William Regal, teaming with the veteran for several months before supposedly tracing his ancestry to Blackbeard and beginning to dress and act like a pirate. The gimmick was ridiculous, but fans seemed to love it for the short time that Burchill was permitted to use it €“ Vince McMahon, not having seen the Pirates of the Caribbean movies that were wildly popular at the time, supposedly nixed it on the basis that he didn't understand the character, which was something of a pastiche of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow. In 2008, Burchill returned to television with a storyline that hinted at incest, as his 'sister' Katie Lea was introduced. That angle (one that Vince has tried to use on many occasions, including on his own children Shane and Stephanie) was soon dropped and the two were soon sent to the WWE's version of ECW, where they played supervillains to act as foils to Gregory Helm's Hurricane character. One of just many capable performers from the brand split era that ultimately never appeared in a Rumble match, Burchill was released after ECW was ended and now works as a fireman (as does Scotty 2 Hotty, interestingly).
