WWE: 15 Worst Pay-Per-Views Ever

14. WrestleMania 9

Even the most diehard, wrestle-crazy kid knew this Wrestlemania was terrible. The card looked like it was thrown together on a napkin about a week before the event and featured finishes that no rational human being could possibly enjoy. The "highlights" of the event included a Doink the Clown vs. Crush match where a second Doink appeared from underneath the ring and proceeded to do a pantomime act with the other Doink. No, fair reader, you did not accidentally ingest LSD, you did accurately read that last sentence. The tag team title match featured champions Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase and IRS) taking on the Mega Maniacs team consisting of Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake. The finish featured the referee getting knocked out and babyface manager Jimmy Hart turning his coat insideout to reveal stripes and counting the pin for Hogan. It was the classic Dusty Finish where the crowd thinks the babyfaces have won the belts only to have the referee disqualify them for various offenses. In other words, it sucked. Smart marks thought it was very odd to see Hogan take a backseat at Wrestlemania, particularly taking the loss via DQ. However, once the main event rolled around, it all made sense. World champion Bret Hart took on massively fat Yokozuna in the final match and lost the title when heel manager Mr. Fuji blinded Hart with salt. Suddenly, Hulk Hogan appeared out of the back and challenged the morbidly obese Samoan for the title with no build up and no real reason to be there. A few seconds later, Hogan had his fifth WWF title and celebrated by immediately taking a month off and refusing to job to Bret Hart (as he had promised before the event). All in all, it was a major dud and showed Vince McMahon that a major change was needed if his promotion wanted to stay on top of the wrestling world.
