"British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith was the total package long before Lex Luger took that nickname for himself. He was the genuine article, a guy who could make you believe, night after night. Smith first made a name for himself along with the great Dynamite Kid, as part of the legendary British Bulldogs tag team. Later, in singles competition, he and Bret Hart had the greatest Intercontinental Championship match of all time at Wembley Stadium, the first time the WWF had made the IC Title the main event of the evening. After that, he was in an out of the WWF, his first release due to the revelation that he and the Ultimate Warrior were using human growth hormone. This was around the time of Vince McMahon's steroid trial, so it's arguable that the company was making an example of anyone caught using. He hopped back and forth between WCW and the WWF over the years, went through a divorce, and entered rehab for painkillers, but never quite attained the popularity he had a few years before. He died in 2002.

I used to do a mean Glenn Danzig impression. Now I just hang around and co-host The Workprint podcast at http://southboundcinema.com/.
