WWE 1999 PPVs From Worst To Best

1. SummerSlam

The Good: Shane McMahon had one of the best in-ring years out of anyone in the company, and he was a non-wrestler. His Lover Her or Leave Her street fight with Test was staggeringly good. Shane would prove himself to be a street fight specialist in later years. The D-Lo Brown versus Jeff Jarrett opener was good. These guys were two of the unsung heroes of 1999. Also good were the tag team turmoil match (particularly the Hardys versus Edge and Christian section) and The Undertaker looked motivated in his and The Big Show's Tag Title defence against Kane and X-Pac. The Bad: The Lion's Den Weapons Match between Blackman and Shamrock as another weak outing in their series. Both guys may have had great looks and been legitimate bada**es but their matches together were never good. The 'Kiss My A**' storyline for The Rock and Billy Gunn's not-so-epic showdown was risible. This was the end of the Billy Gunn singles push experiment, at least for a little while. The Rest: The main event triple threat WWF Championship match between Austin/Triple H/Mankind is a funny one. Foley was supposed to take time off to recover from his many injuries but was inserted into the match when Austin refused to job to Triple H. Another theory is that The Game didn't win here because special referee and Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura didn't want to raise the hand of a heel in his home town. Triple H won the title the next night on Raw, anyway.
