WWE 1999 PPVs From Worst To Best

2. No Mercy (US)

The Good: No Mercy took a little while to get going but once it did, boy was it a great show. Not only was match quality consistently high, but the event featured the best WWF match of the year. The Hardys and Edge and Christian tore it up and (literally) set new heights for tag team wrestling in their blistering tag team ladder match. Val Venis and Mankind was probably Val's last big match, which is a shame, because he looked great during it. The New Age Outlaws against The Holly's was good, old-school fun. The show closer between Austin and Triple H, who had an interesting backstage political rivalry in 1999, was decent (even if it couldn't really follow the earlier ladder match). The Bad: The Rock's six minute victory over a totally broken-down and past it British Bulldog was a waste of The Great One's time. Did anyone want to see The Fabulous Moolah wrestle Ivory? No, they did not. The crowd were into The Godfather versus Mideon opener (mainly because of the hoes) but the match demonstrates just how weak the WWF undercard could be at times. The Rest: One of the biggest stories coming out of the show was that Jeff Jarrett, whose contract had quietly expired, demanded a hefty six-figure sum to drop the IC Title to Chyna in their (very enjoyable) Good Housekeeping match. This was Jarrett's last WWF appearance and he is, for all intents and purposes, blackballed from the company for life.
