WWE: 20 Best Moments Of Daniel Bryan's Slow Burn

18. Daniel Bryan vs. C.M. Punk For The WWE Championship - (Over The Limit 2012)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiYA7ugf7Xs He became a no. 1 contender for C.M. Punk's WWE Championship by winning a Beat the Clock challenge versus Jerry "The King" Lawler. The PPV event was promised to be a "five-star beatdown" by Punk, 10 years after their first meeting on the indie circuit. We didn't see a beatdown as much as we saw two equals grappling ferociously for their claim to the WWE's most coveted belt. Amidst back-and-forth chants of "Dan-iel Bryan! / C.M. Punk!", the champ would match his challenger blow-for-blow in a technician's favorite that was as stylistically different in today's ring as anything Bret Hart or HBK conjured up in the shift to a New Generation. Pausing to lead the crowd in a Yes! Chant, Bryan went for a running leg lariat but missed his connection, before eventually wrestling the champ into the Yes! Lock, which was countered into a controversial pinfall by Punk. That left Daniel Bryan sitting in the ring noticeably perplexed, as his brows furrowed and he began yelling a new one-word catchphrase . . . "No!"
