10. Jericho Wins WWF Title€ Sort Of (April 17th 2000)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Su_XnbpDM According to Triple H€™s deal with Earl Hebner, we€™re supposed to pretend this never happened, but instead let€™s revisit. Jericho loved insulting Stephanie McMahon Helmsley, and understandably, Triple H didn€™t like it. On this night in April 2000, Jericho opened the show by again, comparing Stephanie to a slime ball pig. This brought out a fired up Triple H desperate to defend his wife. Jericho used Triple H€™s rage to trick him into putting the WWF Title on the line, then introduced the APA as his insurance policy for the match. Jericho and HHH had a good back and forth TV match. Over the course of it, the APA got rid of the interfering Shane McMahon after he pushed Jericho from the top rope. Triple H clashed with referee Earl Hebner after he replaced the first referee, and shoved him to the ground. Jericho used the distraction to get a Spinning Heel Kick and a Lionsault, which led to a fast count from Hebner awarding Jericho his first WWF Title win! But of course, when something that big happens in the opening segment of Raw, it usually means that it€™ll be undone later in the show. Triple H ordered Earl Hebner to the ring and tried to force him to reverse the decision. Hebner refused having grown tired of HHH abusing his power, but said he would strike the match from the record books so long as HHH promised to never strike him again so long as he was a WWF Official. Triple H of course promised, regaining his title like it never happened, then fired Earl straight away so he could get revenge by beating him up. Great one night angle, that teased Jericho as a WWF Champion more than a year before he finally won the big one.
