WWE: 20 Best PPVs Of All Time

13. Royal Rumble 2001

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P2FrE-Dook Highlights: Steve Austin wins Royal Rumble, Kurt Angle vs. Triple H, Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho in a Ladder Match Drew Carey! No. That's not the reason why this one is here. It's here because it was another outstanding show from the best period in WWE. The Rumble match and victory by Steve Austin is one of the better ones. It was the year that Kane eliminated 11 guys (the record until Roman Reigns broke it this year), that weapons were used in the match, that Austin was bloody before he got into the match after an attack by Triple H and that had some of the best star power of any Royal Rumble match ever. The Benoit/Jericho ladder match for the IC Title was a very physical brawl that incorporated a lot of great ladder spots too. Never forget that Walls of Jericho on top of the ladder. Amazing match. Also on the undercard, the Kurt Angle title defense against Triple H provided a lot of drama with the Vince McMahon/Trish Stratus storyline heating up while Stephanie McMahon got into a catfight with Trish. The finish saw Steve Austin come out, hit the Stunner on his rival Triple H (that was why HHH attacked him later) and Angle kept the title. It was a good match although a bit difficult since it was heel vs. heel. Other matches on the show included Edge & Christian over the Dudleys for the tag titles that was solid and a disappointing Ivory vs. Chyna match. Can't win 'em all. The 2001 Rumble PPV was another strong show during the best period in WWE history.
