WWE 2003 PPVs From Worst To Best
9. Backlash

The Good: Things got off to a flying start with the always-dependable Los Guerrreros' Tag Title match with Team Angle. Haas and Benjamin were improving rapidly and managed to keep up admirably with their experienced opposition. Brock Lesnar versus John Cena, a dream match a decade later, was good but Cena wasn't quite ready to hang with The Next Big Thing.
The Bad: WWE pretty much killed Goldberg's WWE career before it even had a chance to get started by booking him in a 15-minute match with the ultra-charismatic The Rock. Da Man should have been tearing through some midcarder, not being made to sell for long periods of time.
The Flair/Triple H/Jericho versus HBK/Nash/Booker T six-man was disappointing, considering the talent involved. Sean O'Haire looked like he could be superstar in April 2003...but not in his Backlash match with Rikishi (impressive finisher, mind).
The Rest: Rey Mysterio was badly shaken and had to be taken to hospital for scans after Big Show flung him into the ringpost while he was still tied to a stretcher in a reckless post-match angle. Vince McMahon was very unhappy with how unprotected Rey was and let everyone backstage know about it afterwards.
