WWE 2004 PPVs From Worst To Best

1. WrestleMania XX

The Good: WrestleMania XX really did provide something for everyone. Billed as where 'it all begins again', there really was a sense that change was imminent in WWE. Certainly the conclusion of the triple threat main event, which saw Triple H tap out to Chris Benoit's crossface clean in the middle of the ring signalled a changing of the guard and a possible new direction for the company. Earlier in the show, Eddie Guerrero beat Kurt Angle in a water-tight match that left some fans disappointed; they wanted to see Eddie and Angle go out there and beat the living hell out of each other, given the intense nature of their feud, but the two world-class grapplers instead told a different story. One of the best matches of Eddie's and Angle's careers, make no mistake about it. Chris Jericho and Christian had a fantastic match with a great twist finish and The Rock, Mick Foley, Batista, Ric Flair and Randy Orton positively lit it up in their handicap match. This was Rock's first match in a little under a year and he looked to be having the time of his life out there, goofing around with the Nature Boy. The Undertaker's match with Kane wasn't a masterpiece, sure, but fans were more than happy to see the return of the Dead Man and not the American Badass. The Bad: A lot of the undercard matches were rushed. In an effort to get as many people as possible on the show, WWE booked a lot of matches but didn't have a lot of time, once they factored in how much was needed for the main events. Stuff like the cruiserweight open and the multi-team tag title matches weren't given a great deal of time to develop. Then there was the Lesnar/Golderg fiasco. This has been covered to death, but, in a nutshell: the MSG crowd, aware that both Goldber and Lesnar were on their way out of the company, sabotaged the match and pelted it with chants of 'boring' 'Austin' and this match sucks. The match was a total washout, and neither Goldberg, Lesnar nor special referee Austin looked like they were having much fun out there. The Rest: Molly Holly was so desperate to be a part of the show that she pitched the idea of competing in, and losing, a Hair versus Hair match to Victoria.
