WWE 2006 PPVs From Worst To Best

1. One Night Stand

The Good: Once again, the ECW guys and gals (with a little help from WWE) produced the goods. While not as good as the original, the 2006 One Night Stand was nevertheless the best show of the year. It wasn't a perfect show, but there was a lot more bad than good. Rob Van Dam finally climbed to the top of the WWE mountain with a victory over John Cena. This match is legendary for its insane crowd heat. No hollow threat, the ECW faithful probably would have rioted, had Cena left with the gold. Edge/Foley/Lita took on Dreamer/Funk/Beulah in a wild brawl. Poor old Funker, still rolling around in barb wire in his late 50s... Rey Mysterio and Sabu was something of a dream match for a lot of fans and they met expectations - right up until the cop-out finish. A referee stoppage in ECW? Really? Randy Orton and Kurt Angle had a great opener (the first proper match, after the thirty second Tazz/Lawler macth/angle). The Bad: Balls Mahoney vs. Masato Tanaka was a let-down, considering how awesome Tanaka's match with Awesome the year before was. As mentioned before, the finish to Rey/Sabu was a huge disappointment and really should have been changed. The Rest: How did WWE manage to get it so right here and so wrong a few months later at December to Dismember? The answer: Paul Heyman.
