WWE 2006 PPVs From Worst To Best

15. New Year's Revolution

The Good: This was the night that Edge became a bona fide WWE superstar. Indeed, while the in-ring content might not have been much to shout about, the event certainly provided a major histortical moment. Edge's Money in the Bank cash-in on John Cena (the first in history), following Cena's successful WWE Title defence inside the Elimination Chamber, ended the event on a high. Further down the card, Triple H and Big Show had a slow but heated match, which told a great story. And Mickie James and Trish Stratus clashed in their first major singles match in their long and celebrated rivalry. The Bad: Freshly heel-turned Gregory Helms and Jerry Lawler had an interminable ten minute match, which King inexplicably won cleanly. Shelton Benjamin (with his 'Momma') was given the pleasure of wrestling Viscera. Their match sucked. And the Elimination Chamber failed to sparkle as brightly as previous instalments. The Rest: Kurt Angle, whose attempts to play heel were being thwarted by a crowd who had nothing but admiration for him, cut a hilarious over-the-top promo where he claimed to not like black people and would love to make Jesus Christ tap out. The fans cheered him, natch.
